This station was started as a provoking comment by DJ Random Rose (that’s code word for my EDM loving Wife) to me about mid 2011.
I was originally a JLA Hobbycaster on Rock/Alternative station Dead Awaken Radio. One day she ask me why I dont play EDM music. I tell her I could. So it went back and forth, until I was under a false impression she was going to be a big part of this, I caved, put my alternative music ways aside, and pioneered with the Dubstep wave.
I’ve always been a fan of EDM music, as I grew up on it. Its culture is a very scattered and unique breed of people, from all walks of life. But when EDM artist express themselves, you feel it. Thats where Dub really fit in my life. I have been angry, but I never fit in with my fellow alternative scene. I really wasn’t a club kid. The style of dubstep is that angry quiet kid, that one day punches the bully in the face, and realizes ,”MAN, I’m strong!” Its the moment you throw on your hoody, and you walk down a crowded block, but in your mind, your the only one there. If your not feeling something from the the bass, someone somewhere is playing it wrong.
Its expression, its the trend. Its a product people want to capitalize on from its fanatics. This is where it gets relevant…
I’m not that guy, and this isn’t that station. I dont believe in just Dubstep. I love a lot of EDM, but I have a pole in the ground on this genre.
I dont believe this industry should be played by whose shaking hands, and whose investing money. I play what sounds good to me. I play what people talk about because they like it.
I’m that guy that visits soundcloud.com a lot. I root for the independent artist with talent, but refuses to sign with a label, but has incredible talent, and fights it out for himself.
That’s the momentom of the Beat Transit, its not just a soundtrack to this generation, it IS our culture.
