Coffee has more power than you ever thought: 3 cups a day helps you live longer

Good news if you love coffee more than tea: According to a new study, people who drink coffee twice or thrice a day, whether caffeinated or otherwise, may have a lower chance of dying from certain illnesses than those who abstain from it. Thought e-cigarettes were safe? Beware, even one puff can affect your heart!

Thought e-cigarettes were safe? Beware, even one puff can affect your heart!

E-cigarretes have always been controversial. While past research has found that it increases risk of cigarette smoking in youth, studies have also shown that less cancer-causing toxins are found in users of e-cigarettes. Now, a new study has suggested that a single exposure to e-cigarette vapour may be enough to impair vascular function. Researchers from West Virginia University researchers studied artery diameter, the blood vessels’ ability to widen (vasodilation) and aortic stiffness in female mice after short- and long-term exposure to flavoured e-cig vapour. I Thought My Pain Was Normal—Then I Found Out I Had a ‘Ton’ of Fibroids

But archeologists at a site in the northern Jordan Valley in Israel have uncovered new and surprising clues about the real Paleo diet: It turns out ancient humans feasted on a wide variety of plants along with their fish and meat. The researchers from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Bar Ilan University identified 55 edible plant species that…

Almonds Provide Fewer Calories Than Thought: Study

Both roasted and unroasted almonds provide fewer calories than previously estimated – and the amount of calories is largely dependent on the form of the dry fruit consumed, according to a new study. The study conducted by scientists from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) shows that compared to the number of calories listed on nutrition labels, participants actually absorbed 25 per cent fewer calories from whole unroasted almonds and 19 per cent fewer calories from whole roasted almonds. David Baer and his team from USDA’s Agricultural Research Service (ARS)…
