CBSE Class 12 Board results: Son scores 82% in school where father worked on daily wages
LUCKNOW: The story of daily wager’s son, Ashok Yadav, is a tale of human grit, determination, sweat and glory. Ashok’s father, Rajesh, works as a marble mason on daily wages. The young man has secured 82% aggregate and 93% in a much-loved subject, physics, in the CBSE Class 12 Board Exams.
Destiny took Yadav to St Anjani’s Public School in Rajajipuram, Lucknow, where he studied in a one-room house without electricity, which till sometime back had no drinking water facility.
He was admitted to the school after its founder-director MD Saxena, impressed with his father Rajesh’s dedication to his work and skills in marble setting work, offered him extra cash. Rajesh refused the money and instead asked if his son could study in the CBSE school as the village headmaster had said that he was extremely intelligent.
“Saxena promptly agreed and promised that only a token fee would be charged till I complete Class 12, a jubilant Yadav said. After joining school Yadav started excelling in studies, became the monitor and maintained his position in the top three ranks in class. In Class 12, he was appointed the sports captain for his extraordinary leadership skills.
He has earlier won medals in the District Science Championship organised by the Department of Science and Technology of the UP government, Mathlete and IT Quiz. “In the Tech Fest, I made a model of a multi-terrain miniature tank for use in the armed forces complete with a hidden surveillance camera. I was awarded a gold medal for the extraordinary design and vision,” said Yadav. He aspires to join the armed forces.
Praising his teachers for their support, Yadav recounts the words of his school manager, Taru Saxena, “The finest steel has to go through the hottest fire. Taru Saxena, in turn, maintains that in the very first year after he joined she knew Yadav would bring honour to the entire nation – not only the school. “The boy is sharp, intelligent, innovative as well as humble and extremely hard-working. He has in him the lethal combination for success. Nothing can stop him from succeeding in life,” she said.
