LUCKNOW: The story of daily wager’s son, Ashok Yadav, is a tale of human grit, determination, sweat and glory. Ashok’s father, Rajesh, works as a marble mason on daily wages. The young man has secured 82% aggregate and 93% in a much-loved subject, physics, in the CBSE Class 12 Board Exams.

Destiny took Yadav to St Anjani’s Public School in Rajajipuram, Lucknow, where he studied in a one-room house without electricity, which till sometime back had no drinking water facility.

He was admitted to the school after its founder-director MD Saxena, impressed with his father Rajesh’s dedication to his work and skills in marble setting work, offered him extra cash. Rajesh refused the money and instead asked if his son could study in the CBSE school as the village headmaster had said that he was extremely intelligent.
