The art deco pad with vintage interiors could be the perfect retro home
YOU will not see many apartments like this hit the market.
In a city filled with ‘six-pack’ apartments with little in the way or originality and character and inner city high rises, this vintage style home offers something very different.
The art deco style apartment will be auctioned by Place — Coorparoo tomorrow.
Constructed in the 1930s, the brick building is a great example of the art deco style of architecture that was hugely popular in the first half of the twentieth century.
Owner Gavin Gordon purchased the three-bedroom apartment almost 30 years ago after he fell in love with its historical charms.
“I was seeing so many ‘six-packs’ I really wanted something that had character and was different,” Mr Gordon said.
“As soon as I walked in I knew this was the place I was going to buy.”
It has a number of quirky features including porthole style windows and a two way ‘milk cupboard’, a relic from the days of home delivered milk.
Mr Gordon said one of the highlights of the property was the expansive balcony.
“We’ve had numerous parties there, you can fit a lot of people in,” he said.
After relocating to Tasmania he made the reluctant decision to put it on the market.
It will be auctioned tomorrow on site at 4pm.
